What We Deliver

Microsoft Fabric Delivered as a Working Platform, Not a Slide Deck

Most organisations that license Microsoft Fabric end up using one or two of its workloads and paying for the rest. Reports run on Power BI, pipelines still live in older tools, and nobody has decided how OneLake, capacity, and governance fit together.

Our Microsoft Fabric consulting services start with the architecture and work outward: OneLake and Lakehouse design first, then pipelines, then the DirectLake semantic layer, then governance and capacity controls. Every Microsoft Fabric consultant on the team holds DP-600 or DP-700 certification, and the same team carries the work from design to handover, so nothing falls between the data engineers and the BI team.

Plan Your Fabric Platform →
Why Clients Come to Us
"We licensed Fabric but we only use Power BI"
Lakehouse, Warehouse, and pipelines sit unused because nobody planned how the workloads fit together. The capacity is paid for and the platform is underused.
"Our Fabric capacity keeps throttling"
Every workload is competing for one pool of capacity units with no scheduling or sizing plan. Reports slow down each morning and the next SKU up looks like the only answer.
"We are split across Synapse, Power BI Premium, and Databricks"
Three platforms, three bills, and duplicated data. Consolidating onto Fabric is the plan, but nobody has scoped what moves first.
"Anyone can create anything in OneLake"
No workspace standards, no sensitivity labels, no clear ownership. Governance was planned for later, and later arrived with an audit request.
Fabric Services

Six Microsoft Fabric Services Delivered End to End

From OneLake architecture to capacity control, everything your organisation needs to run Fabric as one platform instead of a set of separate tools.

01

Fabric Strategy and Architecture

We design your OneLake foundation before anything is built: workspace and domain structure, Lakehouse versus Warehouse decisions, and a medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) layout that keeps every workload reading from one governed copy of the data.

  • OneLake and workspace architecture
  • Medallion Lakehouse design
  • Lakehouse vs Warehouse decision framework
Lakehouse Architecture →
02

Fabric Data Engineering and Pipelines

Ingestion and transformation built the Fabric way: Data Factory pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Spark notebooks, and mirroring from your source systems, designed to run efficiently on your capacity instead of burning through it.

  • Fabric Data Factory pipelines and Dataflows Gen2
  • PySpark and SQL notebook transformations
  • Mirroring and shortcuts for source systems
Data Engineering →
03

Fabric Data Warehouse and DirectLake Power BI

Semantic models built directly on OneLake with DirectLake, so reports read Delta tables at near-Import speed without scheduled refreshes or duplicated data. One governed model sits behind every dashboard. Need extra hands? You can hire a Microsoft Fabric analyst to run it.

  • DirectLake semantic models and DAX
  • Fabric Data Warehouse and SQL endpoints
  • Power BI reporting on the governed model
Power BI Consulting →
04

Real-Time Intelligence and AI on Fabric

Streaming and advanced analytics on the same platform: Eventstreams, Eventhouse, and KQL for live data, plus a clean data foundation that makes Copilot and machine learning usable. See when Real-Time Intelligence makes sense, and what Copilot in Microsoft Fabric actually does.

  • Eventstreams, Eventhouse, and KQL databases
  • Data Activator alerting
  • Copilot and ML readiness on governed data
Real-Time Streaming →
05

Fabric Migration and Modernisation

Move from Azure Synapse, Power BI Premium, Databricks, or on-premises SQL Server onto Fabric with a phased plan: inventory, pilot workload, parallel run, and cutover, with validation at every step.

  • Synapse and Power BI Premium to Fabric
  • On-premises SQL and legacy warehouse migration
  • Phased cutover with parallel-run validation

Fabric Governance, Security, and Capacity Planning

Governance and cost control from day one: OneLake security, sensitivity labels, and Microsoft Purview, plus SKU sizing and capacity monitoring so you avoid both throttling and overspend. Start with our free Microsoft Fabric capacity estimator or read the OneLake security checklist.

  • OneLake security, RLS, and sensitivity labels
  • F-SKU sizing and capacity unit monitoring
  • Overage and FinOps cost controls

How We Deliver It

From Fabric Assessment to Governed Platform in 4 Phases

First workload live in 3 weeks. The architecture is agreed before anything is built, so every workload that follows plugs into the same foundation.

01
Discovery and Fabric Readiness

We inventory your data sources, current platforms, licences, and spend, then map which workloads belong on Fabric first. A capacity estimate is included, so the SKU decision is made with numbers instead of guesses.

Readiness report, workload priority list, and SKU recommendation
⏱ Week 1
02
Architecture and Foundation

OneLake, workspace, and medallion layout are designed and agreed before any pipeline is built. Security, sensitivity labels, and capacity guardrails go in at the foundation, so governance is never a retrofit.

Signed off architecture, workspace standards, and governance baseline
⏱ Weeks 1 to 2
03
Pilot Workload Goes Live

One workload goes live end to end first: source system to Lakehouse to DirectLake semantic model to Power BI report. It proves the architecture on real data and gives your team something to use in week three.

A production workload with monitoring and documentation
⏱ Week 3
04
Scale, Migrate, and Hand Over

Remaining workloads and migration waves are delivered in sprints on the same foundation. Capacity monitoring, documentation, and team training are completed so your people can run and extend the platform themselves.

Full documentation, a trained team, and capacity monitoring in place

Why Numlytics

Why Choose Numlytics for Microsoft Fabric Consulting

We build Fabric as one platform, not a collection of separate workloads. Our consultants are certified on the exams that matter, and the same team carries your engagement from architecture to handover.

Talk to a Fabric Consultant →
01
Certified on the Fabric exams that matter
Our Microsoft Fabric consultants hold DP-600 (Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate) and DP-700 (Fabric Data Engineer Associate), alongside PL-300 for Power BI. They are specialists whose day-to-day work is Fabric delivery, verified and renewed rather than listed once on a CV.
02
Architecture first, workloads second
We agree the OneLake, workspace, and medallion design before the first pipeline is built. Every workload added later plugs into the same foundation instead of creating a second, parallel one that someone has to untangle in a year.
03
Designed to be capacity efficient
Inefficient pipelines and notebooks are the quickest way to throttle a Fabric capacity. We design for capacity unit efficiency from the start and size your SKU with numbers, using the same logic as our free Microsoft Fabric capacity estimator.
04
One team across the whole platform
Data engineering, warehouse, semantic models, and Power BI are delivered by one team, so there is no gap between the people who land the data and the people who report on it. If you need ongoing capacity after the project, you can also hire a Microsoft Fabric engineer from the same team.
05
Governance and security from day one
OneLake security, sensitivity labels, and Microsoft Purview policies are part of the foundation build, not a phase that gets pushed to later. Everything is documented so your compliance team can review it without asking us to reconstruct it.
06
Up to 50% lower cost, full timezone overlap
Certified consultants delivering at up to 50% lower cost than US and UK Fabric consultancies, with daily standups in your business hours across the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. Same delivery standard, without the onshore rate card.

FAQ

Microsoft Fabric Consulting FAQs

Common questions before starting a Microsoft Fabric consulting engagement with Numlytics.

Ask Us Anything →
What does a Microsoft Fabric consultant do?
A Microsoft Fabric consultant designs and builds your data platform on Fabric: the OneLake and Lakehouse architecture, Data Factory pipelines and Spark transformations, the Warehouse and DirectLake semantic models behind Power BI, and the governance and capacity controls that keep it secure and affordable. The goal is one platform that your teams use, instead of separate tools that never quite connect.
How much does Microsoft Fabric consulting cost?
It depends on scope: the number of source systems, how many Fabric workloads you need, whether you are migrating from an existing platform, and the engagement model (fixed scope, time and materials, or a dedicated team). Our consultants deliver at up to 50% lower cost than US and UK Fabric consultancies, and we send a scoped proposal within 24 hours. Consulting fees are separate from the Fabric capacity itself, which Microsoft bills by SKU. You can model that monthly cost with our free Microsoft Fabric capacity estimator.
How long does a Microsoft Fabric implementation take?
We aim to have your first workload live in 3 weeks. A full platform build or migration is delivered in sprints on the same foundation, so the total timeline depends on the number of sources, workloads, and data volumes. You get a phased plan in the proposal so you know what goes live in each stage.
Should we migrate from Azure Synapse or Power BI Premium to Microsoft Fabric?
For most organisations that want a single platform, yes, but not always immediately. It is worth waiting if you have deep custom Databricks investments, depend on Spark versions Fabric does not support, need true multi-cloud deployment, or require network configurations that do not fit the Fabric SaaS model. We assess this in the discovery phase, and our Microsoft Fabric migration guide covers the full checklist. For delivery support, see our Microsoft Fabric migration service.
What is the difference between Microsoft Fabric and Power BI?
Power BI is the reporting workload. Microsoft Fabric is the wider platform that includes Power BI alongside Data Engineering, Data Factory, Data Warehouse, Real-Time Intelligence, and Data Science, all on a shared storage layer called OneLake. Many organisations already use Power BI and adopt Fabric to bring data preparation and storage into the same governed environment. Our Power BI consulting team works on both sides of that line.
Do you work with Databricks or Snowflake alongside Microsoft Fabric?
Yes. We are certified on Databricks and Snowflake as well as Microsoft, so we can integrate them with Fabric, keep them where they make sense, or migrate workloads onto Fabric when consolidation is the goal. The recommendation is based on your workloads and cost, not a preferred vendor.
Which countries do you serve and how does the timezone overlap work?
We work with enterprises across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and the UAE. Our consultants overlap with your business hours for daily standups and real-time collaboration, so you get the same working rhythm as an onshore team.
